Mel is the founding senior advisor and Partner for WCP Private Wealth Advisors. He entered the financial services industry in 1971, following a professional baseball career with the Minnesota Twins. With 40+ years of experience in the wealth consulting industry, Mel has an extensive multi-state practice, advising clients throughout the Pacific Coast States, Alaska and Arizona, working through offices in Southern California and Anchorage, Alaska.
Working closely with other professionals is a primary focus of Mel's practice, often working in collaboration with associations like Associated General Contractors of Alaska, as well as CPAs, P&C Firms and Trust & Estate Attorneys. As Charter Member of Sagemark Private Wealth Services* and The Business Intelligence Institute**, he assists clients and mentors others on business exit & wealth protection strategies throughout the country.
Mel is a frequent speaker on these topics, presenting regular workshops for various organizations and associations throughout the country. He is also certified as a Continuing Education Instructor for CPAs, attorneys and insurance professionals. Mel is a member of the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, the National Association of Life Underwriters, the Society of Financial Service Professionals and is past board member of the Ventura County Estate Planning Council. In addition, he is a lifetime member and past board member of The Resource Group***.
Philanthropy and charitable planning have been a major focus of Mel's attention, both professionally and personally. He serves as a Trustee of a Private Foundation which supports programs for disadvantaged and underprivileged children throughout Southern California and was active as a high school and collegiate baseball coach for some twenty-five years. When not involved with work or philanthropy, Mel can often be found fly fishing somewhere in Alaska. Mel and his wife, Gail, have four adult children and nine grandchildren and make their home in Camarillo, California.
